Lil Wayne Plans to Release Two Albums This Year
A major rollout is in the works for Lil Wayne's retirement. His planned final album, Tha Carter V, will actually be delivered in multiples, with at least a second album of spillover material coming with it, aptly titled, The Other Album.
"This year, not only will I be dropping Tha Carter V, I'mma be dropping two albums, ya dig?" he announced via his latest installment of Weezy Wednesdays. His reasoning: "Because I been out the game a second, album-wise," and because he's been "working hard as a mother f--ker."
Tunechi explained further, "I went to work on Tha Carter V," he said, and then realized, "either Tha Carter V is gonna be 93 songs, or we gon' have to figure this out. So we said we gon' be dropping two albums this year and then we're probably gon' be dropping seven albums next year."
Whether or not the seven albums in 2015 will be a reality, he seems certain about this second album of Carter music. He even toyed with the idea of fans naming it, until he came up with a title on his own.
"I'll probably just name it, 'The Second Album I was Talking 'Bout'" he said, before settling on the abridged version.
With nearly 100 songs on deck, that must be why he was requesting $25 to 35 million to retire.
