Eric Wright Jr. wanted to play his father in the upcoming movie Straight Outta Compton.
Hollywood isn't all about nepotism. Eric Wright Jr., popularly known as Lil Eazy-E, is reportedly disappointed that he wasn't given the role of playing his famed father, Eazy-E, in the upcoming N.W.A. biopic, Straight Outta Compton.
"I am my father," Lil E told TMZ. "I look like him. I sound like him."
Although the project hasn't gotten the official green light as yet, casting has begun, and O'shea Jackson Jr. has been announced in the role of his popular papa, Ice Cube. Apparently, that made Lil E, an acting novice as well, feel even more slighted; it will be Jackson Jr.'s feature film debut.
Despite all the drama, however, Lil E, an artist, AIDS activist and Eazy-E's eldest, promises he'll still help promote the project, in support of his late father's legacy.
Big E's widow, Tomica Woods-Wright, fellow N.W.A. co-founder Dr. Dre, and Cube are all on the production (and casting) team. Director F. Gary Gray (Friday, Set It Off, The Negotiator) is slated to be behind the lens.
