Wiz Khalifa Responds to Vanilla Ice's Criticism

"If he met me he wouldn't feel like that," rapper says about Vanilla Ice's criticism concerning the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles song.

One bad critique isn't enough to get Wiz Khalifa riled up. The "We Dem Boyz" rapper completely understands why Vanilla Ice slammed his "Shell Shocked" track from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film, and he respects his opinion.

"I felt like his opinion was super valid from his standpoint because A, he’s passionate about this music and B, he did have something to do with The Secret of the Ooze, so he's allowed to have personal involvement," Khalifa told MTV News. "But at the end of the day, if he met me and talked with me he wouldn't feel like that."

Khalifa knows Vanilla Ice meant no harm, and therefore didn't take his comments personally. He said, "With all respect due to the artists — and I'm one of them people — I'm very, very particular about words," the Taylor Gang front man pointed out. "So, just them words right there let me know where he was coming from. He wasn't hating at all.”

Khalifa also talked about his "True Colors" collaboration with Nicki Minaj, and the arrest warrant issued after he skipped a court date. The Pittsburgh native has cleared up his legal issue. "That's taken care of," he said. "I'm not really speaking on it too much, just because that's not, like, the story of my life, but nobody has to worry about me going to jail."
