Nile Rodgers Remains Cancer Free

Musician has been cleared of the disease for 42 months.

Nile Rodgers is celebrating a clean bill of health. The renowned musician has been cancer free for 42 months, he announced Saturday (Aug. 16). "Every 6 months I have to get tested for cancer since being attacked. I'm 42 months clean," Rodgers tweeted along with a photo.

Rodgers was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer in 2010. He ultimately decided to undergo surgery to remove the cancer, and chronicled his journey via his personal blog, Walking on Planet C. "In an instant, everything in my happy-music universe imploded," Rodgers wrote on the site. "It was like Jaws was savagely eating me from the inside out."

With cancer now completely out of the picture, Rodgers can continue with his busy work schedule. He's currently working on Duran Duran's upcoming album, and performed at Virgin Mobile's V Festival in Staffordshire, England yesterday. He has a show in Belfast, Ireland tonight, and will perform in the Netherlands this Friday.
