Rapper Fabolous stopped by the sports talk show First Take to discuss, among other topics, the upcoming Def Jam 30th Anniversary concert and the slight controversy over who's performing.
As the birthday bash for the trailblazing label quickly approaches, many eyebrows were raised when the lineup for the gala concert was announced and it did not include two of Def Jam’s most important artists: LL Cool J and Public Enemy. The point was raised when Fab stopped by the Stephen A. Smith-anchored show to briefly discuss the concert. But the hip hop music vet just wanted to explain the basics.
“It’s a mixture of the guys from the past and some of the guys who are there now,” Fab explained. “Like me, Rick Ross, 2 Chainz. Then there are other artists from the past like Foxy Brown and Method Man, Redman. It’s just a fusion.”
The Def Jam Recordings 30th Anniversary concert happens tonight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
