Eminem Raps About Punching Lana Del Rey in the Face Like Ray Rice

Slim Shady back to controversy in his #CXVPHER freestyle.

Not only is Eminem wielding chainsaws again, via the cover of his upcoming album, Shady XV, he's also unleashing an arsenal of potentially protest-worthy lyrics.

In a cypher promoting the LP, Em delivers lines that harken back to a painful history and uses singer Lana Del Rey to make the connection.

"I may fight for gay rights, especially if they d--e is more of a knockout than Janay Rice/ Play nice? B***h I’ll punch Lana Del Rey right in the face twice, like Ray Rice in broad daylight in the plain sight of the elevator surveillance/ ’Til her head is banging on the railing, then celebrate with the Ravens," he rhymes.

The freestyle not only casts light on his own public turmoil –– various advocates have demanded that he stop using homophobic lyrics, even as recently as in his viral "Rap God" single, and instead join the struggle for equality –– but also that of the now married couple Ray and Janay Rice, who earlier this year were involved in a violent incident that led to Ray Rice's indefinite suspension as a running back for the NFL's Baltimore Ravens.

Of course the tactics used are not shocking, Em's pre-Recovery career was built on ripping from recent headlines, calling out pop stars (like Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears) and threatening women (Kim) and men alike, but the timing on this one may be ill. The elevator surveillance footage that revealed the Rice abuse was made public only as recently as September.

Shady XV, a compilation album featuring Em and his Shady Records artists like Slaughterhouse, Bad Meets Evil, D12 and Yelawolf, is scheduled to release Nov. 24.
