Update: Beanie Sigel Shot in New Jersey

Philly-born rapper injured after altercation, rushed to a hospital to undergo surgery.

UPDATE: Beanie Sigel is out of surgery and appears to be doing fine after being shot this morning. A suspect was taken into custody following a police chase. Charges are pending.

Beanie Sigel was shot outside a home in Pleasantville, N.J., Friday (Dec. 5) morning, reports NBC Philadelphia. The incident occurred at around 9:45 a.m. following an altercation of some kind. Sigel was injured alongside another male.

The 40-year-old, Philly-born rapper, whose birth name is Dwight Grant, was shot in the stomach and has been transported to an AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center to undergo surgery. The second victim refused medical treatment at the scene. The extent of his injuries are unknown.

Details about the shooter have not yet been released.

Sigel completed a two-year sentence for tax evasion in August and was moved to a Philadelphia halfway house upon his release. It is unclear what he was doing in New Jersey.
