Sam Smith Talks With Chaka Khan for V Magazine
Dubbed "the new sound of soul," British singer Sam Smith is covering the latest cover of V magazine and inside he speaks candidly on his experiences with other pop stars.
Although he refused to name names, the "Stay With Me" singer revealed in an exclusive interview with none other than Chaka Khan that some of his contemporaries aren't as humble as one would expect.
"Even when you meet them — I won't name names — but some of these pop stars are just awful," he said. "And they have not even had half the success that you've had, and yet you're so humble and kind."
Khan's response: it's today's lack of person-to-person communication that makes the difference. "Talking to a screen all day long takes the human experience out," she said. "Luckily, I grew up in a time when we only had a telephone at home."
Not long ago, the iconic singer had to debunk rumors that she was beefing with Lindsay Lohan.
The rest of Smith and Khan's chat will be available Jan. 15 (pre-order now). The new issue also features alternative covers with Tinashe, Jessie Ware and FKA Twigs.
