Teen Shot to Death by Friend Acting Out Waka Flocka Flame Lyrics

Rodney Clay Patrick Jr. kills 17-year-old while mimicking words to rapper's 2010 track "Bustin' at 'Em.”

Police in Florida arrested a man Monday (Jan. 26) night for fatally shooting his friend while acting out Waka Flocka Flame’s rap lyrics.

Rodney Clay Patrick Jr., 22, has been charged with manslaughter in the death of Douglas Trey Winslow, 17.

According to NBC News, the shooting happened at Patrick’s home. He was mimicking the words to Waka’s 2010 track “Bustin' at 'Em,” which include the lyrics, “Ain't no talkin', homie, I'm jus' bustin' at 'em" followed by gun shots. Patrick picked up what he thought was an unloaded gun and fired at Winslow, killing him.

Despite calling 911, Patrick initially lied, telling an operator that Winslow killed himself. “I handed my little brother my gun and I didn’t know it was loaded and he shot himself in the head,” he said through tears. He went on to claim that Winslow wanted to see the gun because the teen “thought it was so cool.”

He later told police that Winslow was his girlfriend’s brother.

Patrick is being held without bond. He faces additional charges of tampering with evidence and possession of a controlled substance.
