Young Thug: I Would Never Buy a Jay Z Album

Rapper says Hov is too old to be making music.

Young Thug won’t buy Jay Z’s album because he thinks the Roc Nation mogul is too old to be making music in the first place.

The age discussion came up during the “Stoner“ rapper’s interview with GQ magazine. “I don't want to be 50 years old and rapping, man. I'm pretty sure nobody wants to do that,” he said. “I’m pretty sure Jay Z don't wanna rap right now.”

It doesn’t matter that Hov has five years before he actually reaches the half-century mark, Thugga thinks he’s aged out of certain demographics. “If you're 30, 40 years old, you're not getting listened to by minors,” explained Young Thug. “Like, Jay Z has some of the sickest lyrics ever, but I would never buy his CD, just because of my age and because of his age. By the time I turn that old, I ain't gonna be doing what he's doing.”

Jay could obviously teach him a thing or two about longevity, but he doesn’t want to follow the mogul’s blueprint. He’d rather emulate the careers of Lil Wayne, Bill Gates and the King of Pop. “I hope to be like Bill Gates, bro. With all the money in the world. Like Wayne, someday I want one of those kind of careers. Or Michael Jackson.”

Age is a subject he seems to have thought long and hard about. Later in the Q&A, the 22-year-old said that he won’t change his name because he wants to stay “forever young." is your #1 source for Black celebrity news, photos, exclusive videos and all the latest in the world of hip hop and R&B music.
