Kanye West Returns to the Grammys After Six-Year Hiatus

Yeezy won Best Rap Album for College Dropout ten years ago.

This year's Grammy Awards may as well be dubbed The Kanye West Show. The hitmaker is returning to music's biggest night after a much-publicized six-year hiatus, and it's all anyone can talk about.

West, a 53-time nominee with 21 wins under his belt, nevertheless decided to strike against the Grammys over perceived snubs in the Album of the Year and Record of the Year categories.

“So don’t expect to see me at the Grammys this year, you know what I mean,” he said during a classic Yeezy rant in 2012 when his My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was omitted from the list of nominees for Album of the Year and Record of the Year. “How many Grammys do we have? … Eighteen Grammys. All in the Black categories, though. But nonetheless, 18. I love Maroon 5, but when I lost Best New Artist to Maroon 5 … you know what I mean?”
It seems that all is forgiven in 2015, as an all-smiles Yeezy walked the red carpet with wife, Kim Kardashian, on his arm, seeming excited to make his return to the event. West has already finished his first solo performance on the big show, a heartfelt rendition of his song "Only One" dedicated to his late mother Donda West, Kardashian and their daughter North West. Later, he will take the stage again for a much-anticipated set with "FourFiveSeconds" singer Rihanna and Paul McCartney. Yeezy also revealed on the red carpet that he is executive producing RiRi's upcoming album, but refused to spill the beans on a release date.

The superstar is up for two accolades — Best Rap/Sung Collaboration and Best Rap Song for "Bound 2" with Charlie Wilson. This year also marks the ten year anniversary for his Best Rap Album win for College Dropout.
