Kanye West, Dame Dash Confirm Purchase of Karmaloop
The rumors are true: Kanye West and Dame Dash are officially purchasing online retailer Karmaloop.
For those not in the know, Karmaloop specializes in streetwear, with an additional focus on accessories and curated content via a separate portal called KLX (including the widely known Karmaloop TV). The announcement arrived yesterday through Dame Dash’s Instagram (everyone, ignore the typos):
“Board meeting had to go over some @damondashstudios biz showed him @loisaidas and @toohonorable_ddstudios got the thumbs up and yeah the Karmaloop thing is real,” Dash wrote.
“this is exactly how I saw things 10 years ago and he’s doing some s**t that even I couldn’t do but it’s not my place to speak on it," he continued. "…but let’s just say iam proud as f**k…that’s the way it’s supposed to be…the younger dudes are supposed to be better then us…that’s what we fight for #honaorablepeoplesticktogether.”
This news arrives just in time, following Kanye’s solid entry into the fashion world. His Adidas Originals Fall 2015 line was introduced during Fashion Week, along with another go ‘round in footwear with his Yeezy Boosts.
Dash’s steady ascent in the fashion and art world originated with the launch of Roc-A-Wear with former business partner Jay Z. This news on the purchase of Karmaloop also follows Jay’s purchase of Swedish company Aspiro with streaming service TIDAL, which also includes its own curated content component.
Considering Jay and Dame's history, Kanye's decision to align with him may raise a few eyebrows. It’s not personal, though. It’s just business. Right?
