Nelly's Lawyer 'Extremely Confident' Drug Charges Will Be Dropped

Attorney Scott Rosenblum says Nellyville star "will not be associated" with marijuana, MDMA and paraphernalia found on tour bus.

Days after Nelly was arrested on drug charges in Tennessee, after a state trooper pulled over his tour bus and found marijuana and MDMA on board, a lawyer for the rapper says he is "extremely confident" that he will be cleared of all charges.
A statement released through Nelly's attorney Scott Rosenblum said, "Nelly was one of several individuals that was on a tour bus that was stopped and searched while traveling through Tennessee. In fact, there had been 15-20 people that had access to the bus prior to the stop."

"Allegedly, a small quantity of contraband (MDMA aka Molly or Ecstasy) was discovered during the routine search," the statement continued. "We are extremely confident that when the facts come out, Nelly will not be associated with the contraband that was allegedly discovered."

The St. Louis rapper has been charged with felony possession of drugs, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after the trooper found "five colored crystal-type rocks that tested positive for methamphetamine, as well as a small amount of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia," according to a statement from the Tennessee Department of Homeland Security.
The search also turned up several handguns and 100 small Ziploc bags, which the statement said are commonly used for selling drugs.

Nelly, real name Cornell Haynes, was taken to the Putnam County Jail along with another passenger. He later posted bond and left the jail, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said.
