Yasiin Bey is set to perform a special one-night only concert tribute for the late J Dilla in London next month, XXL reports. The Brooklyn MC formerly known as Mos Def will take the stage at Indigo at the O2 Area on June 11.
Presented by Soundcrash, the “once in a lifetime” show will honor Jay Dee’s legacy with Bey spitting over classic beats from the deceased producer’s catalog. Bey is one of the many names in hip hop who collaborated with the lauded producer.
Dilla passed away in 2006 from cardiac arrest following a battle with a rare blood disease. His birthday is celebrated every February via Dilla Day, a stateside concert event spearheaded by his mother, Maureen “Ma Dukes” Yancey. This year’s festivities took place in Miami instead of his hometown of Detroit.
