Update: Vince Staples Announces Debut Album Title and Release Date

It drops this summer.

UPDATE: Vince Staples just announced that his Def Jam debut, Summertime, is coming out sometime this year. It'll be executive produced by No I.D. Contrary to reports, Staples' album is not dropping on June 30th.

PREVIOUS:Vince Staples has shared his latest single, “Senorita,” which features Atlanta’s rapper-of-the-moment, Futureand R&B newcomer Snoh Aalegra.

The Long Beach rapper grabbed our attention with last year’s Hell Can Wait EP, which displayed his sharp lyricism and bleak outlook of the gangster life he grew up in. “Senorita,” his first offering from his untitled debut coming this summer, aims for the radio and doesn’t disappoint. Future handles the hook (“9MM, my brother’s my keeper/Was serving that ether before I did features/My mamacita, she know how to greet me/She know how to keep me”), while Staples offers some gritty verses about gang-banging in the streets.

The biggest takeaway is that the 21-year-old rapper sounds great on fuller production. In the past, he had a string of decent mixtapes with rising producers like Michael Uzowuru and Mac Miller’s alter ago, Larry Fisherman. Once he got with the legendary No I.D., the Def Jam signee’s artistic progression really shined through. Here, Staples is ready for the big leagues.
