While B.B. King recovers in hospice care after being hospitalized last Thursday (April 30), his longtime manager, Laverne Toney, who has been by his side for years, has allegedly been neglecting him. The legend's daughter, Karen Williams, says that Toney hired a negligent caregiver to look after her dad, resulting in the singer being physically hurt again.
TMZ reports that the unnamed individual whom Toney hired has failed to tend to King's needs, even getting drunk and falling asleep, causing the blues great to fall and bash his face in.
Williams, who filed legal documents detailing the incidents, said that Toney would not even take her dad to the dentist because she claims that he is broke. According to Williams, however, her dad had a balance of $5 million in his account last year. That money is, apparently, being drained with a hefty $453,000 being withdrawn from the account in just April alone.
After B.B. King suffered a minor heart attack last week, it was reported that Toney refused to let the family take him to the hospital. Cops eventually took the singer to the hospital. Williams further claims that Toney said that the 89-year-old may not have much time left, but she would not allow anyone to visit him, not even his celebrity friends like Willie Nelson, Carlos Santana and Eric Clapton.
To make sure that her father is in the best care, Williams is asking a judge to grant her guardianship of his estate.
