Prince to Perform 'Rally 4 Peace' Concert in Baltimore
Prince is going the extra mile to make sure peace and solidarity are the messages that remain in Baltimore.
After recording a tribute song to all the people of the city of Baltimore, the legendary musician will make the trek to Maryland for a special concert titled Rally 4 Peace. It will be held Sunday at Royal Farms Arena.
A Live Nation statement issued on Tuesday says the concert is meant to be “a catalyst for pause and reflection” after weeks of protests after the death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray. State attorney Marilyn Mosby made the swift decision of charging six officers involved in his death with various charges that prompted emotional reactions.
The statement also encouraged attendees to wear gray. “As a symbolic message of our shared humanity and love for one another, attendees are invited to wear something gray in tribute to all those recently lost in the violence.”
Prince will be joined by funk-rock group 3RDEYEGIRL. Tickets go on sale Wednesday at 5 p.m. at LiveNation.com. Part of the proceeds will go to Baltimore youth charities.
