Wiz Khalifa, Fetty Wap and The Weeknd Have Songs That Top the Billboard Hot 100
This is a pretty cool moment for hip hop right now as three songs from the genre’s biggest names are in the top five.
Wiz Khalifa’s Furious 7 soundtrack hit “See You Again” (featuring Charlie Puth) is No. 1 again on the Billboard 100 for the fourth consecutive week. The track topples Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk!” with Bruno Mars, which ruled for 14 weeks prior. As of now, the track has fallen to No. 3 while Fetty Wap’s “Trap Queen” rose to the No. 2 spot.
After getting a big remix from Drake for his song “My Way,” the New Jersey rapper is riding high off “Trap Queen.” He performed the standout track with The Roots on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon and previously rocked the song at the MTV Movie Awards and with Kanye West at the Roc City Classic in New York City.
To round out the top five, The Weeknd’s “Earned It,” from the soundtrack to Fifty Shades of Grey, lands at No. 4. Just like Wap, he’s been performing his smash live on national television on shows such as Today and this year’s Juno Awards. At No. 5, it’s Walk the Moon’s “Shut Up And Dance.”
Hip hop hooray.
