Boosie Badazz (f.k.a. Lil Boosie) released Touch Down 2 Cause Hell on Tuesday and wanted to celebrate the occasion with his fans. Last night, Boosie held his first NYC concert at Webster Hall to a modest crowd, but was forced to cut it short due to illness.
The 32-year-old rapper has had a history of diabetes since his start in the rap game. In songs like “I Quit” and “The Rain,” he details his fight against diabetes, sometimes referring to it as a curse. Hosts Angela Yee and DJ Envy even warned the crowd that Boosie was rushed to the hospital earlier that day for an unspecified condition, but told fans he was here to put on a good show. At approximately 9:30 p.m., Boosie hit the stage to an excited crowd and performed his verse off the remix of K Camp’s “Cut Her Off.” Shortly after, he threw up and was ushered backstage for assistance.
Members of the crowd reported that his face was in agony. To reassure everyone, a Down South DJ continued to play cuts off Touch Down 2 Cause Hell, including Boosie’s favorite “All I Know” and “Drop Top Music," and promised he would come back. However at 10 p.m., the DJ announced that Boosie would not be returning to the stage and requested Twitter and Instagram handles of those in attendance to share info on their next show.
Earlier this year, Boosie was also hospitalized for dehydration, but recovered quick enough to resume tour dates. His next stop is in Oklahoma City on May 28, where he is still scheduled to perform.
