Andra Day Makes Rounds With Cheers to the Fall
San Diego's Andra Day is touring with her debut album, and while her music may be new to the ear, her sound is rooted in the support of some of entertainment's most esteemed.
Spike Lee for example, got behind the lens for her doo-pop single, "Forever Mine," and the video's clean look is as crisp as her vocals. "I've learned that simplicity is a very powerful thing, she recently told SingersRoom. "You don't need much to convey a message."
The single is among her collection of songs for her first LP, Cheers to the Fall, available for pre-order on iTunes now. Questlove and Raphael Saadiq are on the boards for it, and Stevie Wonder drops in for a guest feature.
As for her live performances, Day will be spinning the heel and chatting it up with the ladies of The Real this Monday (June 1), and in the East Village at the Standard for a showcase June 10, 7-9 p.m.
