A Virginia Beach Club Denied Pusha T Entry Because of Racism

Push says other patrons experienced the same thing.

Pusha T reportedly was a victim of “blatant racism,” according to a story by Billboard
On Monday night (June 1), the G.O.O.D. Music rapper tweeted that he was denied entry in his hometown of Virginia Beach allegedly because he was Black.

In the recount of events Pusha gave to Billboard, he says he was going to a club for a few drinks with friends after seeing that the neighboring Central 111 wasn’t busy. One of Pusha’s friends was already in line at Venue 112 and the doorman was in the process of giving him a wristband. Pusha claims the club owner allegedly told the doorman to refuse the entry of him and his friends, specifically saying it was “guest list only” that night.

"You whispered a little too loud last night @jlinds112 @venue112,” he wrote on Instagram. “We heard u tell your doorman, "tell them we are on guest list only tonight." Unfortunately your other worker had already put the band on my friends wrist and wasn't hip to your racially motivated instructions. Doormen, we aren't angry with u. You were only doing your job and as doormen u are to do what you are told, i understand. You will correct this wrong with me, I eat breakfast in the area most mornings as well as workout extremely close by. Ask around abt me.”

Pusha continued to say that there was no guest list visible, and he was still denied entry even when his friend had a wristband on. To add insult to injury, people in line recognized Pusha, but his celebrity status still wasn’t enough to sway the doorman. After taking to social media to vent his frustrations, he learned that other patrons experienced a similar incident.

"I wanted to tell people that I wasn't exempt from it either," he explained to Billboard about why he spoke about this act of racism to the public. "People may think that I have it easier in some ways, but this shows that racism even overpowers business. I understand what other members of my community are going through."
