Chedda Da Connect bubbled out of Houston’s underground scene with his inescapable single “Flicka Da Wrist” this year. After surprising fans at Summer Jam with an impromptu performance of the song on the Festival Stage, he appeared on The Breakfast Club to talk about the song’s success.
In the interview, he makes it clear that the song isn’t about cooking dope, but rather about watches and “stirring up eggs.” (Don’t worry, we lol’ed too.) He also discusses Lil B’s jab towards him allegedly stealing his dance without paying homage. Is he afraid of the Based God curse? “I don’t know about no curse. That’s superstitious to me,” he says.
Chedda Da Connect revealed that the official remix of “Flicka Da Wrist” will be out this week. There have been several remixes out online featuring the likes of Rick Ross and 2 Chainz, but he says the one coming out will have special guests. “I can’t really talk about it yet because we are waiting on two more clearances,” he says. With Rihanna and Justin Bieber showing love to the song, it is anyone’s guess who will be on it.
Watch the rest of the interview below where he discusses new rappers coming out of Houston (Sauce Twinz, for example), avoiding the one-hit wonder cliché, and more.
