Straight Outta Compton Sounds Like This

Director F. Gary Gray announces Dr. Dre, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar's involvement.

While details on the soundtrack for the highly anticipated biopic Straight Outta Compton have remained hush hush to this day, the film's director, F. Gary Gray gave fans a taste of what to expect.

Speaking with MTV News, he revealed that Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar and Eminem (who established his rap career in the West) will all appear on the project.

"Dr. Dre, it took him 15 years to step out and say, 'I want to do music again' in the way that he's doing it," Gray said. "The soundtrack is insane. Seriously, it's incredible. He went deep and you can hear some of his influences with jazz and sound and a little bit of funk. And Kendrick Lamar is on, Eminem; a lot of great guest stars... It's deep and it's great."

Now that Dre has come out of the woodwork and agreed to record fresh music for the film, can we also expect some cuts, new or old, from the remaining N.W.A members, as well? Only time will tell.

For now, Gray says that the movie is sure to be a show-stopper and will even fill in a lot of gaps for fans. "The details, the stories, the authenticity that you get and you can draw from these guys, it goes beyond Googling what happened in the Death Row days or Googling what happened when the group broke up," he said. "And I think that's what people want to see."

Straight Outta Compton hits theaters on August 14.
