Mariah Carey to Receive Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Mimi will be honored next month, L.A. Reid, Brett Ratner and Lee Daniels to speak at ceremony.

The best-selling female artist of all time will be honored on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next month. Mariah Carey is slated to receive a star at the Hollywood Blvd. W Hotel Wednesday, Aug. 5, her label announced in a press release to BET.com.

“Finally, all questions regarding when Mariah Carey will be honored with a star are answered! Fans have repeatedly asked us when their favorite singer would be honored, and now is the time! We are thrilled that we can add one of the world’s biggest talents to our Walk of Fame,” said Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremonies.

Label executive L.A. Reid and acclaimed director/producer hybrids Brett Ratner and Lee Daniels are expected to speak at the ceremony. Carey will be honored with the 2,556th star on the Walk of Fame. 

Since releasing her self-titled debut in 1990, Carey has sold over 200 million albums worldwide, and earned 18 No.1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100, more than any other artist in history. Her awards include include five Grammys, 21 American Music Awards, a Billboard Artist of the Decade Award and a World Music Awards honor for World’s Best Selling Female Artist of the Millennium.

In May, Carey dropped her latest album, #1s to Infinity, which doubles as the setlist for her successful Las Vegas residency.
