Mark Your Calendars: Today Is Dre Day
It may have been sixteen years since he put out his last studio album, but nobody at Interscope Records forgot about Dre.
In celebration of the release of Dr. Dre's new album Compton (one day early!) yesterday, the label has declared Saturday, August 8 to be Dre Day.
The commemoration started with the unfurling of a huge banner featuring the cover art for Compton right outside Interscope's Santa Monica headquarters, and will culminate with special Dr. Dre skywriting at four strategic spots on the L.A. skies at 3 p.m. PST.
Folks from downtown to the beach are already bumping Compton from their cars and through their Beats headphones, gearing up for the release of the NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton next Friday. Today is sure to be one to be remembered.
