Did Sam Smith Steal From Michael Jackson?

British singer accused of jacking the King of Pop for James Bond theme song.

Sam Smith has been accused of stealing from Michael Jackson to make his James Bond theme song. The buzz around the 'Net is that Smith’s “Writings on the Wall” is a rip-off of Jackson’s "Earth Song" from the 1995 History LP.

The single, co-written by Smith and Jimmy Napes, is already No. 1 on iTunes, but a mashup of both tracks reveals melodic and sonic similarities.

Jackson isn’t the first artist Smith has been accused of copying. Smith gave Tom Petty writing credits on “Stay With Me” when the rocker noticed a likeness to his 1989 single “I Won’t Back Down.”

The British singer hasn't commented on the Jackson comparisons. Check out both songs below.
