A Lot Happened During Kanye West's 808s & Heartbreak Performance

Special guests, technical difficulties, dramatic sets and more.

Kanye West put on a pretty epic show on Friday night at the historic Hollywood Bowl's clamshell dome, sending his fans on a nostalgic journey. 'Ye performed the first of a two-night stint at the well-known venue, treating the audience to live renditions of all of the tracks from his fourth studio album 808s and Heartbreak. There definitely wasn't a dull moment at the showcase with just about everything happening from wardrobe changes to technical difficulties.

While performing the classic album's lead single "Love Lockdown," 'Ye brought a minimalistic flare to the stage, standing before a crisp white background which eventually transformed into a two-story-high stairwell where dozens of built Black men stood like an army brigade in white jeans and chalky makeup. Only Kanye.

Always one to bring the shock value, the MC also had his fare share of special guests who showed support on-stage. Seeing as how 808s is a pretty feature-heavy project, it was only natural that the guest appearances match, and that it did. Young Jeezy, Mr. Hudson and Kid Cudi all showed up to support Yeezus. The only one who was missing was Weezy.

Of course, everything couldn't be perfect. While the first half of the show went off without a hitch, the same couldn't be said for the second as the tracks went out of sync with Kanye. After noticing the disconnect, he ordered that the music be cut off.

Reports show that this may have happened because the "Heartless" rapper was late for rehearsal the day before the big show and due to noise restrictions, when he finally showed up, they told him it was too late. All in all, the show was one for the books.

In other Kanye news, it seems as if he has something big in the works regarding his upcoming album SWISH and Apple Music. According to Complex, on Friday, former Interscope A&R and the current head of Apple Music content, Larry Jackson, posted a photo of him and 'Ye and warned his followers to "stay tuned."

Is Kanye still thinking of jumping ship from Tidal to Apple Music? Only time will tell.
