Offset, from Migos, denied being a gang member in court today, TMZ reports. The rapper, born Kiari Kendrell Cephus, has been locked up since April and appeared in a Georgia courtroom with lawyer Charles Mittelstadt to plead for his freedom. 

The 23-year-old argues that prosecutors skewed his image because of Migos. The rap trio earned a reputation for flaunting guns in a Vice interview, which Offset believes made them a target for the arrest.

Prosecutors claim “gang-affiliated" tattoos prove he runs the Black Migos Gang, which Offset says is just a record label. 

All three Migos members were arrested on drug and gun charges in April. Police found weapons and marijuana on their tour bus while they were performing at a Georgia college. Offset was punished harder due to a past felony conviction. 

In May, Offset reportedly cursed at a judge after his bond was denied, in addition to copping a battery charge for fighting a fellow inmate.
