Kanye West Bonds With President Obama at Democratic Fundraiser
Is POTUS ready to pass the baton to Peezy?
President Barack Obama gave some crucial advice to Kanye West for his 2020 White House bid at a Democratic fundraiser in San Francisco on Saturday night, where the rapper performed for the $10,000-a-plate crowd.
“In case Kanye is serious about this whole POTUS thing — or as he calls it, ‘Peezy’ — I do have advice for him,” the president told the crowd. He warned that, as president, West would be “dealing with some strange characters who behave like they’re on a reality TV show.” Cue the awkward laughter from Kanye's wife Kim Kardashian.
He then added that, “saying you have a beautiful, dark, twisted fantasy, that’s what known as off-message in politics. You can’t say something like that. A lot of people have lost their congressional seats saying things like this. We don’t do that.”
The president wrapped up his "set" by getting very real with Kanye about his prospects: “Do you really think this country is going to elect a Black guy from the South Side of Chicago with a funny name to be president of the United States? That is crazy,” he joked.
Looks like it was a fun night for all. After the fundraiser, the Wests hit the town with pal Serena Williams while President Obama went home to Washington with a few hundred thousand dollars for the DNC and a couple of pairs of Yeezy Boosts for himself. Next time, Mr. President, you can skip the fundraiser and just throw those kicks on eBay!
