The Weeknd Pleads No Contest to Punching a Cop in Las Vegas

He must complete court-ordered community service.

Back in January, The Weeknd was arrested for allegedly punching an officer after he attempted to break up a fight inside the Cromwell Hotel in Las Vegas. TMZ reported that he was pulled into an elevator, and he reportedly punched the cop in the head.

Nine months later, the “Earned It” singer is pleading no contest to the incident. He entered his plea on Wednesday in a Vegas court. The judge ordered him to pay $1,000 to an injured cop fund, complete anger management and an alcohol evaluation. He’s also ordered to complete 50 hours of community service, but he’s allowed to do the time at a non-profit organization in Canada.

If the Weeknd can complete everything, the case will be dismissed. Then he can go back to making his drugged-out R&B that we all love.
