Mariah Carey Says She Didn't Shade J.Lo, She Just Doesn't Know Her

How Sway?!

Mariah Carey has always done two things very well. Sing from her anointed whistle register and shade anyone who dares come in her path.

Known for being a diva in the industry, it's not uncommon for Mariah to pretend there's no one else in her lane. Whether it be newcomer Ariana Grande or the legendary Whitney Houston.

However, when it came to her comments about J.Lo back in the early 2000's, Mariah insists that she was only "being honest."

In the past interview with a foreign media outlet, Mariah was asked her thoughts about Beyoncé and J.Lo. Speaking admirably of Bey, she called the megastar "talented." But when asked about J.Lo, she simply responded, "I don't know her."

How Mariah? How?!

Let us recount that J.Lo had already linked up with Ja Rule at the time, delivering hits like "Aint It Funny," and "Love Don't Cost a Thing." Right before stirring up box offices with her cult classic thriller Enough.

Yet for Mariah, all of that must have gotten lost in translation.

Nevertheless, while speaking to The Cut about greatest gift she received from one of her "lambs,MC said, “Recently? I don’t know. [yawns] I’m sorry, I’m having a 'sleep” moment.'

"Well, there was a very interesting shirt that a fan made with a quote that I said years ago that, when I said it, I really wasn’t trying to be funny. I was just being honest and everybody’s kind of blowing it out of proportion but this guy had a shirt on and it was a picture of me that he made and the quote was underneath it — and I’m going to leave you hanging as to what it was."

Oh, why such big palm trees, MC? Whyyyyy?
