Hello! A Lionel Richie and Adele Collaboration Is Probably Going to Happen

We're definitely here for this.

A mashup of Adele and Lionel Richie’s versions of “Hello” lit up the Internets last week as BlendTV blended Richie’s 1983 smash hit with the British singer’s most recent chart-topper of the same name.

And if you thought that was the only time you were going to see the two names together, you’re probably wrong. E! News recently spoke with Lionel about the video and he all but confirmed a collaboration between him and Adele, after she gets off tour.

"We are going to be doing something together — that's already almost in the works ... I can almost say that we are talking, but right now she has a mission," he told E!. "Her mission is [to] get her record out and go on tour, so until she finishes that cycle, that won't happen just yet. She is committed to that."

Lionel Richie also told the network about his reaction to the viral mashup and responded to those who feel Adele bit his song concept. He says there’s no issues between them.

"You have no idea how many people called me on the phone and said, 'Are you going to let her get away with that? She stole 'Hello,'" he explained. "Then I said, I don't own 'Hello.' I own the melody."

Adele released her most recent LP, 25, on November 20. In just two weeks it’s topped over 4 million records sold and is breaking records left and right when it comes to album sales in the digital age.
