Star Witness in G-Unit Affiliate's Murder Charged With Perjury

Case crumbles against man accused of killing Mazaradi Fox.

The star witness in the murder case of G-Unit affiliate Mazaradi Fox has been charged with perjury, the New York Daily News reports. Rayesha Brockington was indicted over false testimony Monday and remanded to Riker’s Island on $77,500 bail.

Brockington, 34, was injured in an SUV with Fox last January when it was shot up at a Queens intersection. Her eyewitness account was used to bring second-degree charges against accused gunman Jamal Scott.

Last March, Brockington told a grand jury that a masked gunman opened fire on the vehicle and drove off. The story changed at a pre-trial hearing, where she accused NYPD detectives of blackmailing her into blaming Scott.

Queens prosecutors have not revealed which of the stories brought perjury charges. Brockington’s lawyer’s vow that she will fight the case.

Police built a revenge motive in 42-year-old Fox's murder. They theorized that Fox, born Jamal Green, was killed out of retaliation of Scott’s brother’s 1998 murder, in which he was implicated.

Another report revealed that Fox's death could’ve been gang related. His death came a month after he was released from prison for shooting a gang member, who later died in a separate attack.

Brockington’s arrest ruins the case built against Scott, his lawyer, Marvyn Kornberg, said. ”The indictment by the Queens District Attorney's office for perjury ensures that the case against Jamal Scott is no longer viable. They have no evidence.”
