The Weeknd Got an Oscar Nomination for 'Earned It'

"Earned It" indeed.

The Weeknd had a killer 2015, and just when you thought last year was last year, he receives a new honor.

The Oscars recently released their list of nominations and on it is the Toronto singer’s Fifty Shades of Grey offering “Earned It” (there couldn’t be a more aptly titled song, right?). The track, which got the bid for Best Original Song, was joined by "Manta Ray," "Simple Song #3," "Til It Happens to You" and "Writing's on the Wall."

The Oscar nom was only the latest in a string of success that’s followed The Weeknd recently. He was nominated for seven Grammy Awards, dropped his commercial smash LP Beauty Behind the Madness and even began dating model Bella Hadid.

Straight Outta Compton was also nominated for Best Original Screenplay, in case you’re wondering who else from the urban music world graced the list.
