On numerous occasions Macklemore has publically discussed white privilege and it only picked up after he won a Grammy for Best Rap Album over Kendrick Lamar.

Well, him acknowledging white privilege was a positive step and now he apparently wants Iggy Azalea to do the same. The Seattle rapper recently released a song called “White Privilege II” and it takes aim at Azalea and even Miley Cyrus, accusing them of exploiting black culture.

“You’ve exploited and stolen the music, the moment / The magic, the passion, the fashion you toyed with / The culture was never yours to make better / You’re Miley, you’re Elvis, you’re Iggy Azalea.”

This didn’t sit too well with Iggy who responded to a fan on Twitter confused as to why Macklemore was dissing her, especially since they’ve met numerous times with Azalea claiming there was no problem during those instances.

“He shouldnt have spent the last 3 yrs having friendly convos and taking pictures together at events etc if those were his feelings,” she said when asked about the song. She then followed up by saying she doesn’t care about the diss track and says people are going to like who they like and she can’t control it.

A sequel to the 2005 track of the same name, “White Privilege II” is nearly nine minutes long and is slated to be on Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ forthcoming album The Unruly Mess I’ve Made. It also features vocalist Jamila Woods.

Respect to Macklemore for bringing up the issue, but should he have gone at Iggy and Miley like that?
