SNL's Hilarious Beyoncé Skit Explains The Facts Behind White Tears

Kanye wasn't bad either.

Saturday Night Live tackled one of the biggest stories of the week in the first few moments of the show: Beyoncé's supposedly controversial "Formation" video.
In a hilariously-biting cold open, SNL nailed the conservative white fears over Bey's pro-Black song and the accompanying #BlackLivesMatter inspired video with a mock trailer for a disaster movie called "The Day Beyoncé Turned Black."

SNL sketches are typically hit-or-miss (lately, more "miss" than "hit") but it's hard to deny that they frequently nail it on matters of current events and pop culture. This opener is no exception.
Later in the show, Kanye West took the stage as the night's musical guest and brought his usual theatricality to his seventh outing on the sketch show. He performed tracks off of his new album The Life of Pablo, bringing out a huge lineup of special guests. Young Thug, The-Dream, A$AP Bari, and R&B singers Kelly Price and El DeBarge joined him for "Highlights," and Chance the Rapper and Kirk Franklin came out for his second performance of "Ultralight Beam." Before taking a bow, 'Ye announced that The Life of Pablo had finally dropped, exclusively streaming on Tidal and available for download on his website (iTunes won't see the album for another week).

And that's when things went awry. After so much hype, the public rollout of The Life of Pablo was a mess of technical difficulties and fans experienced frustrating delays trying to download. It remains to be seen what kind of impact the clunky release will have on sales, or if we'll even get those first week numbers from Kanye. We doubt we will, unless they're something Yeezy can boast about.
