Despite the Twitter drama, backstage meltdowns and pleas for money, Kanye West is proving that his public antics and his ability to churn out good music have nothing to do with one another. Following promising reviews for his new album The Life of Pablo, West is back with another banger in the form of a collaboration with French Montana and Nas.
The rapper tweeted a fresh track, off of French's brand-new mixtape Wave Gods, on Friday night, making this the latest installment of G.O.O.D. Fridays:
“Figure It Out” was released on Friday night when DJ Khaled played it on his We the Best Radioshow on App Music and has since garnered over 266,000 listens on soundcloud.
The rappers styles mesh wonderfully in this retrospective track that features Montana reflecting on the death of rapper, Chinx, and the incarceration of Max B. Nas gets personal, saying, “I’m a G, I need privacy,” and Kanye brings back his classic auto-tune to provide the hook.
This is not the first time Ye and Montana have worked together. They collaborated on “All Day,” which earned French his first Gammy nomination. Kanye and Nas have worked together in the past as well, collaborating on the Grammy-nominated collaboration song, “Classic (Best Than I’ve Ever Been),” and “Still Dreaming,” off of Nas’ album Hip Hop Is Dead.
As for the mix tape, it's French's most star-studded to date with tracks that include Future, Miley Cyrus, Travis $cott, Big Sean, Puff Daddy and Jadakiss.
