Why Is Twitter Holding Up Prodigy's Large Lawsuit with Universal?
One of the most bizarre legal cases involving music over the past few years just got stranger.
Prodigy of Mobb Deep sued Universal Music Publishing Group last fall for unpaid royalties. He claims they took 50 percent of all of his work while signed with Loud Records starting all the way back in 1994. His solo work, which included his debut LP H.N.I.C., was also included in the lawsuit, however it was not technically covered by the deal.
The more fishy part is apparently the legal matter has been settled, except for one thing. TMZ is reporting that P has to tweet out that everything was a misunderstanding to get the $153,751.21 he is supposedly owed. The tweet must read exactly: “My dispute with UMPG was all a misunderstanding. Thankful that we resolved it quickly and happy to be continuing my long-standing relationship with UMPG.”
Prodigy did tweet out the statement twice, but they’ve both have been deleted since. His this case really over yet?
