Questlove is grieving the loss of his father, and penned a beautiful open letter to express his feelings about his dad Lee Andrews, who passed away on Wednesday at 79. Quest posted the letter to his Instagram and thanked the man who he called, "the greatest teacher in my life."

The Roots member said he cherished his moments with father, especially "the last 2 conversations we had."

He went on to thank him for the tough love that was needed to help bring up a young man in West Philadelphia of the 1980s, saying, "I understand why you were so hard on me praying I didn't succumb to a fate not meant for a teenager in west Phill...I didn't understand it at the time. But I appreciate it now."

Andrews is to thank for his son's musical pedigree. He was the lead singer of The Hearts, a Duwop group that gained fame in the late 1950s. Our condolences are with Quest and the rest of his family.
