Kehlani took to Instagram last night to reveal that she had attempted to take her own life.
In the flick's caption, which shows her at a hospital hooked to an IV, the “Did I” singer was quick to dispel the rumor that her suicide attempt was in reaction to public criticism of her alleged affair with former boyfriend Jahron Brathwaite, better known by as PARTYNEXTDOOR.
“Don’t believe the blogs you read. No one was cheated on and I’m not a bad person,” she wrote in the now-deleted Instagram post in defense of her current relationship with Cleveland Cavaliers Guard Kyrie Irving. “I wanted to leave this Earth. Being completely selfish for once. Never thought I’d get to such a low point.”
The Bay Area native also reflected on her decision to attempt suicide. It’s one she now calls “grateful” it didn’t work out.
“Everyone is hurt and everyone is in a place of misunderstanding, but as of today I had no single wish to see tomorrow,” the caption reads. “But God saved me for a reason, and for that I must be grateful cuz I’m not in heaven right now for a reason.”
Late yesterday afternoon (March 28) Kehlani was put in a tough spot. It looked like she deleted her Instagram in the midst of rumors of an affair with her ex after he posted an Instagram pic of the two of them in bed together and a caption reading: "After all her shenanigans, still got the R&B singer back in my bed."
After posting the hospital Instagram picture, Kehlani deleted her Instagram. Social media, including fellow singer Keyshia Cole, responded in numerous ways to news of her attempted suicide. “I support u Kehlani!! Love is love!” Cole tweeted.
It is currently unclear as to how Kehlani tried to take her own life. One thing’s for certain, we’re glad she’s OK. Check out a screengrab of the now deleted Instagram post about her attempted suicide below.
