Hip-Hop Legend Afrika Bambaataa Facing Allegations of Sexual Misconduct With Minor

Even if claims are true, criminal charges can't be filed due to the statute of limitations passing.

Today (March 31) new allegations have surfaced against hip-hop pioneer Afrika Bambaataa.

As reported, Ronald Savage, a former member of the New York State Democratic Committee, has come forward, claiming that the Universal Zulu Nation member sexually abused him as a teenager. He says he met Bambaataa when he was 12 or 13, which would have made the legendary DJ and mentor roughly 21 at the time.

“It took me this long to actually get this out and to be able to really talk about it," Savage said during an interview with Shot97.com, publicly discussing the alleged molestation.

The politician talks about his past interactions with Bambaataa in his book, Impulses, Urges and Fantasies, but uses a different name to detail his account.

“I wanted to be down with the in crowd, not really understanding what Bambaataa was doing to me was actually molesting me," he said in the radio interview. He went on to cite several reasons for not coming forward sooner, including that males don't typically speak up about sexual misconduct.

Even if the claims can be proven true or admitted to, the statue of limitations has expired, meaning that no criminal charges can be filed.

The Zulu Nation has not yet officially commented on the allegations. More as this story develops.
