Watch Phife Dawg's Posthumous "Nutshell" Video
Just two weeks after Phife Dawg passed away we get his most recent video offering.
Directed by Tony Reames and produced by J Dilla, “Nutshell” features cameos of numerous legends explaining why, in a nutshell, Phife Diggy is important to them. The song is from Give Thanks, an album the A Tribe Called Quest emcee was working on before he passed away.
Phife did the damn thing on this one too and wanted to let everyone know he can still spit among the best of them: “Unaccustomed to unproven whack flows / Unresponsive to unapproved stages shows,” he raps. “That's unacceptable, unexciting, lazy f****r / Phife here, canny, uncommon rhyme spitter.”
“Nutshell” was released via Smokin’ Needles Records and can be downloaded via iTunes. 50 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the American Diabetes Association and the National Kidney Foundation in his honor.
Malik “Phife Dawg” Taylor passed away Tuesday (March 22) from complications due to diabetes, a disease he’d been struggling with for most of his adult life. He was 45 years old.
