T.I. Accused Of Requesting Money To Attend Fan's Funeral

He's denying it though.

T.I. has been known to give back to his community, however some recent accusations have him on the defensive regarding something nice he did recently.

A story run by Celebrity XO yesterday (April 18) is claiming the Atlanta native requested $40,000 to attend the funeral of a Tennessee kid who was gunned down. TIP, who originally found the 12-year-old’s story heartbreaking, has already responded to the allegations, calling them “lies.”

“#LIES ain’t nobody contacted me for no such thing,” he wrote via an Instagram post, which pictures the story’s headline. “Let alone me charge someone to attend a funeral. What people should do is be aware of who they’re contacting & not blieve Tom Dick & Hank who says they’re connected. BUT I’d appreciate it if y’all could quit wit da [sh*t]… I been in dis game too long…Charging 40k to attend a funeral ain’t even in my repertoire…. KnockItOff.”

Celebrity XO’s story is a little shaky when you take a closer look. It includes a screengrab of two Facebook comments that accuse T.I. of taking money in exchange for his presence at the funeral, but offers no actual proof or comments by him that he did such. T.I.’s also never been accused of demanding money for any other charitable events in the past.

The website’s follow-up post demands “receipts” for the woman who made the initial accusation and suddenly took it back, but it’s Celebrity XO who should’ve had the facts and evidence to begin with in running a condemning story. They say the have “their sources” and we invite those to share their encounters, but even then they’re still running on gossip. Golden rule of journalism: trust, then verify.
