You might say, “Daddy wouldn’t be proud” in the case of Malikah Shabazz.
On Thursday, authorities reported that Shabazz, Malcolm X’s daughter, was being held without bail after violating the terms of her probation on an identity-theft conviction.
In July, Shabazz received a sentence of five years of probation for stealing the identity of 70-year-old, Khaula Bakr, and racking up more than $55,000 of debt in the family friend’s name. Bakr’s late husband was one of the civil rights activist’s bodyguards.
Shabazz promised to make monthly restitution payments of $1,229 for 50 months as a part of her plea agreement, but the probation department learned that she has not made any payments.
Additionally, the 46-year-old is accused of traveling outside of New York and living in St. Albans, Vermont, a violation of her probation.
She will appear in front of a New York City judge on Jan. 6.
