The Trayvon Martin case is seeing a number of developments, including a change in witness accounts that could undermine the self-defense claim of George Zimmerman, the shooter of the 17-year-old student.

Four witnesses' statements about the Feb. 26 shooting in Sanford, Florida, made significant changes in their recollections of the night. They are a part of the collection of evidence that was officially released by the Florida attorney general’s office recently.

For example, one witness, a young woman who was a neighbor in the gated community, initially said that there was an altercation, but she couldn’t tell which man was on top in the skirmish. Later, however, she said that she was sure that it was Zimmerman on top.

"I know after seeing the TV of what's happening, comparing their sizes, I think Zimmerman was definitely on top because of his size," she said.

Meanwhile, Trayvon’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, attended the Empowerment Temple in Baltimore last week, where Pastor Jamal-Harrison Bryant held a tribute to the mother of the dead teenager.

More than a dozen women and men assembled at Fulton's feet before she stepped down to embrace one of them. She squeezed the woman, patted her back and whispered in her ear. Afterward, Fulton walked down the line, embracing each mother, grandmother and father.

“My heart is filled right now,” she told the congregation. Fulton told reporters that she’s making an appearance not just for her son, but for other young people who might be victims of racial profiling.

Back at her workplace in Miami, Fulton has received 34 weeks' worth of donated time off from fellow Miami-Dade County government employees, allowing her to be paid while taking time off from work to deal with issues surrounding the racially charged murder case.
