Have a burning desire to send an email to George Zimmerman? Well, your prayers have been answered.
Just after his first televised interview on FOX News, the Trayvon Martin shooter relaunched his personal website, www.therealgeorgezimmerman.com, and is soliciting donations for his defense and personal messages from supporters.
“I am not a murderer, and I am not a racist … This is not my website, this is our website. I am going to use this as a chance to communicate with you and listen to you, and as an opportunity to share important things about the case, “ Zimmerman wrote.
The site also features a short welcome video that features Zimmerman speaking in both English and Spanish thanking “the masses” for their support through his ordeal. A Twitter account, @friendsofgz was set up as well but was quickly shut down for an unknown reason.
Before the account was closed, however, screenshots of the account show that Zimmerman retweeted several messages allegedly sent by supporters.
“Comment from a donor: Hang in there George. You have a strong case and a good lawyer and are a decent, intelligent person. God Bless You!” one Tweet read.
Thursday, Zimmerman’s lawyer Mark O’ Mara spoke out to members of the media and confirmed that his client is pressed for cash and that his website is an attempt to drum up extra funds.
“George and his family and the defense fund is basically broke,” O’Mara said in a televised presser, “and he was hoping he could highlight TheRealGeorgeZimmerman.com, which is his new Web site ... to get some publicity for that to quite honestly up some funds because they are in great need of it.”
