Bobby Lee Taylor, 42, was charged with first-degree murder of Rosaline Lee, of Pontiac, Michigan, who was found floating and partially clothed by a fisherman in May.
Shortly after, media personality Star Jones pleaded for witnesses to come forward in the case as Lee was the sister of her friend.
Taylor's DNA was found during an autopsy of Lee, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office of Michigan reported. Authorities believe Taylor was alone in abducting, strangling and killing Lee.
Taylor is also being charged separately with first-degree home invasion, assault and larceny for breaking into another Pontiac woman’s home on Sept. 15 while she slept and tried to sexually assault her, according to the Detroit Free Press.
Lee, 32, was last seen alive the night of Saturday, May 25, when she drove away from her home in Pontiac, a Detroit suburb. Her white van was found near Terry Lake the next morning and her body soon after. She leaves behind 12-year-old and 6-year-old boys and a 9-month-old girl.
Jones is close friends with Rosaline's sister, Richelle Ransom, who she met over five years ago through Twitter. They built a close bond after discovering they were both members of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.
