Omari Hardwick’s: "Little Black Boy Wonder"

Actor Omari Hardwick's moving tribute honors Trayvon Martin.

After the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the killing of Trayvon Martin, actor Omari Hardwick was moved. How could yet another Black male youth be killed and no one be held accountable?

The night of the verdict he wrote the poem Little Boy Wonder: A Dedication to Trayvon Martin, a moving tribute to the teen. "My belief in us, as the human race, sharing the same planet, motivated me to create Little Boy Wonder: A Dedication to Trayvon Martin," Omari told cocofab.com.

Less than a week later, the Being Mary Jane actor gathered a group of friends and colleagues and they recorded a video of them reading the poem. In addition to Hardwick, the video features Aaron D. Spears, Affion Crockett, Bill Duke, Brian Dobbins, David Oweloyo, Eriq LaSalle, Gary Dourdan, Isaiah Roberts, Jay Ellis, Marlon Wayans, Mo McRae, Omar Benson Miller, Omari Hardwick, Robbie Jones, Pastor Toure Roberts, Sugar Shane Mosely, Wesley Jonathan and Wren Brown. The video was produced by Icon Mann.

The moving message is one worth seeing (above), and is rightfully making an impact.
