Gunshots rang out across Chicago's South, West and Southwest sides this past weekend, leaving six dead, including 28-year-old Jerrell Brooks, and 27 others injured, including a 7-year-old boy, according to the NBC Chicago.

This now brings the city's homicide total to 264, according to Red Eye Chicago a site that tracks victims.

Brooks and another man were shot while inside a vehicle Sunday night as another vehicle pulled up beside them and a shooter opened fire on the victims. A bullet hit Brooks in the head and the man he was with in the arm, according to the Chicago Tribune.
