Gun violence in Chicago ended with three people killed and at least 37 injured this past Labor Day weekend, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Darius Sept, 34, was shot in the abdomen early Saturday morning in the Morgan Park neighborhood. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:41 a.m., the Chicago Tribune reports.
On Friday night, police found Johnny White, 36, with multiple gunshot wounds in the head and thigh. He was pronounced dead at the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital. Paul Land, 29, was struck in the stomach and shoulder on Sunday night in the Rogers Park neighborhood. He was later pronounced dead at a nearby medical center.
One of the youngest victims was a 17-year-old boy who was critically wounded in a shooting while sitting on a porch early Monday morning in Little Village. Two people pulled up in a vehicle nearby, got out and began shooting. The boy was struck in the arm, back and chest, according to the Sun-Times. He was listed in critical condition.
Since January, there have been 233 homicides by gunshots, according to data collected by Red Eye Chicago.
